Urinary tract infection is also know as cystitis. Approximately
250 000 Australians develop a urinary infection each year. It
occurs when bacteria travels up the urethra, infect the urine and
inflame the bladder lining. It is more common with increasing age,
though they are also common in young infants. They are more common
in women than in men.
