TOPIC GUIDES > Ultrasound
An ultrasound is a useful procedure used to view
images of blood vessels, tissues and organs. High-frequency sound
waves are used which make echoes. The echo patterns are picked up
and displayed on the ultrasound machine screen.
Ultrasounds may be used to examine the heart,
abdomen, and internal structures of the baby's brain. Ultrasounds
are painless and provide much information about the health of an unborn
baby.
