Menstruation (also known as a period) is the cyclic loss of blood by a
woman, from her uterus (womb) when she is not pregnant.
Menstruation generally occurs every 4 weeks after a women has reached
sexual maturity and prior to menopause. A period lasts on average
of 5 days.
